A new series of Russian attacks against the electrical grid of Kiev has caused wide areas of the Ukrainian capital to be plunged into darkness, as confirmed by the country's Ministry of Energy.
The Energy Minister, Denis Shmihal, explained that the widespread outage is due to "an ongoing attack by Russian drones against one of the energy facilities vital for the city."
He also emphasized that "energy sector workers are doing everything possible to restore electricity supply as soon as possible."
Along with the blackouts in homes, the capital's metro has had to temporarily suspend its service and the schedules for the planned outages that were to be implemented from this coming midnight have been altered.
