The Colombian Army has reported the capture in Bogotá of Colonel Carlos Didier Pérez Amorocho, in compliance with an order from the Prosecutor's Office, for his alleged connection with illegal armed organizations, including the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and dissident factions of the former FARC, in activities linked to drug trafficking and terrorism.
According to counterintelligence reports, the events under investigation would have occurred between the years 2019 and 2020, and again between 2024 and 2025. In this context, authorities are trying to clarify whether during those periods the Army officer would have received payments from these armed structures in exchange for facilitating sensitive information or other actions that could benefit them.
The investigations indicate that Pérez Amorocho would have maintained communication with members of the Eastern War Front of the ELN in the department of Arauca, as well as with networks associated with the Second Marquetalia, one of the dissidences of the FARC, with a presence in the Nariño region.
The Prosecutor's Office attributes to him alleged crimes of conspiracy to commit crimes for drug trafficking and terrorism, bribery, and trafficking and possession of weapons, ammunition, and explosives for restricted use and for exclusive use of the Armed Forces.
