At least 33 people were arrested last night in different towns in the Netherlands as a result of a series of riots that broke out after Morocco's victory over Canada (0-3) in the round of 16 match of the Football World Cup being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Riot police had to use water cannons in The Hague, where 29 arrests were made and two officers and a traffic warden were injured. Incidents were also reported in Rotterdam, Leiden, Utrecht, and Tilburg, with another four people arrested, as detailed by the Dutch Police in a statement released on their website. In Amsterdam, the celebrations took place without any significant incidents.

The two police officers injured in The Hague were hit after an attack with "high-power fireworks," according to the Police's version, which also reported the throwing of glass, eggs, stones, and flares at the deployed officers.
