The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran reported this Monday that it has executed attacks against United States fighter jets at the King Hussein and Al Azraq air bases, both located in Jordan. Hours later, the Iranian Army communicated a new offensive against helicopters and U.S. personnel at the Al Minhad base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in retaliation for the recent attack by U.S. Armed Forces against Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.
"The Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard has launched ballistic missiles against the technical and maintenance infrastructure and the deployment bases of enemy fighter jets at the two U.S. air bases, King Hussein and Al Azraq, in Jordan," it stated early Monday morning in a statement disseminated by the Iranian agency Tasnim, linked to the military body itself.
The Revolutionary Guard has justified the bombings as "a response to the aerial aggression of the American-Zionist enemy on Larak Island," where the Iranian force itself has acknowledged the death and injuries of several of its fighters just hours before. "Every shot will receive an even more crushing response," it warned.
Already early in the morning, the Iranian Army detailed a new attack, this time with drones, against helicopters and U.S. military personnel deployed at the Emirati base of Al Minhad, south of Dubai.
"The Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran has attacked the Al Minhad base in the United Arab Emirates with dozens of drones, where U.S. Army helicopters and forces were present," reads the statement from the Army's Public Relations department reported by the Iranian state broadcaster, IRIB.
In this note, the Iranian military emphasizes that this facility "is one of the important centers for the support and air transport of foreign forces."
Additionally, linking this offensive with the U.S. attack in Larak, the Army has assured that it is "prepared to ensure sustainable security and protect the Islamic Republic of Iran until the threat from the enemy in the region is eliminated."
It has also promised to "avenge the blood of all the martyrs of the war imposed by the terrorist U.S. forces," following the bombing against the island in the Strait of Hormuz, which has caused the death of at least two Iranian military personnel.
Response from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates
Regarding the scope of these attacks, the Armed Forces of Jordan have stated that their air defense systems "have intercepted eight missiles that have penetrated the airspace of the Kingdom."
"The Jordanian Armed Forces neutralized these attacks and managed to destroy the missiles before they posed a threat to the population or property," the official spokesperson of the Army indicated in a statement.
In the same text, the military representative emphasized that the Jordanian Forces "will take all necessary measures to protect the homeland, preserve its sovereignty, and maintain its security and stability."
On the other hand, the authorities of the United Arab Emirates have explained that their forces "responded to a drone detected over the territorial waters of the country as it approached from Iran," and have denied that missiles have reached the Al Minhad base. "That information is false," he said.
The Emirati Ministry of Defense has emphasized in a message on social media that "the Armed Forces remain in a high state of alert to respond to any threat that may arise, in order to safeguard the sovereignty, security, and stability of the UAE."
Finally, it has asked citizens to "consult official sources for information" and to "refrain from spreading rumors or inaccurate information."
In a subsequent statement, the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the "dangerous escalation" by Iran with the Iranian drone attack, which it described as "an unacceptable act of aggression and a direct threat to the security, stability, and territorial integrity" of the country.
The UAE has emphasized that it will not accept "any threat against its security and sovereignty under any circumstances," and has stressed that Abu Dhabi reserves "the full and legitimate right to respond" to these attacks.
