The Iranian Executive indicated this Thursday that it will give a response "in a few days" to the most recent peace initiative conveyed by the United States to try to close the conflict in the Middle East, after Washington rejected the last plan formulated by Tehran and sent its reply through the mediators.
"The negotiation process is ongoing and messages are being exchanged through the mediators," said the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi. "We presented our plan, the so-called seven-day plan, and we listened to the U.S. opinion on it," he added.
In this line, he specified that the authorities in Tehran are "reviewing" Washington's position. "I believe we will respond in the coming days," he anticipated before the media, according to a message disseminated by the head of Iranian diplomacy on his social networks.
On September 30, the Iranian government confirmed that it had already received the official response from the United States to its proposal to reactivate dialogue towards a peace agreement -- which contemplated the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within a week if its demands were accepted -- just a few days after U.S. President Donald Trump publicly expressed his rejection of the plan presented by Tehran.
The Iranian initiative was announced during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, held at the end of September in New York, in a context of blockage of the talks mainly driven by Pakistan to reach a pact that ends the conflict triggered by the U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran, which began unexpectedly on February 28.
