The Hungarian Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, announced this Friday the dismissal of the general director of an important conglomerate of conservative media in the country, among which stands out the newspaper 'Mandiner'.
"By order of the Minister of Finance, they have just dismissed the general director of the company that publishes the newspaper called Mandiner," the Hungarian leader pointed out in a note on social media in which he states that with this step "all funding of this medium of lying propaganda comes to an end".
Mandiner operates as a communication group and a weekly current affairs magazine with a conservative and right-wing line in Hungary, responsible for the news portal Mandiner.hu. The group also had a printed weekly magazine that ceased to be published in paper format at the end of July.
Since its creation, this media network has maintained a close relationship with the executives led by Viktor Orbán. In 2025 it was transferred to the Mathias Corvinus College, the main private educational institution in the country, recognized for promoting patriotic and traditional values and which, during Orbán's governments, has received substantial resources from public funds.
