The Syrian authorities have denounced this Tuesday that Israeli forces would have carried out an attack against the military airfield of Abu al Duhur, located in the province of Idlib, in the northwest of the country. Damascus qualifies the action as an "unjustified act of aggression" and a "flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Syria.

In a statement, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains that this type of operation represents a "dangerous increase in violence" and "endangers the security and stability" throughout the area.

The text adds that "the continued Israeli attacks carried out since December 2024 despite Syria's efforts to consolidate its stability and avoid an escalation expose Israel's attempts to undermine efforts to drag the entire region into greater tension and instability," while recalling that, for now, Israel has not offered any public reaction.

According to information previously disseminated by the television channel Syria TV, several unidentified planes would have executed four airstrikes in the early morning against the aforementioned airfield. These four impacts would have hit the main runway of the military facility, although the actual extent of the damage caused is currently unknown.

Last month, Israeli authorities justified their attacks on Syrian territory as a "religious and moral obligation" and warned that they could carry out new operations, also "against jihadist militants in the south" of the Arab country.
