At least 14 civilians have lost their lives and more than 20 have been injured after a bombing by the Burmese Army against a Buddhist retreat in the center of the country, recorded this past Friday.
According to local sources cited by the opposition portal Irrawaddy, a Burmese fighter jet dropped four bombs on the monastery in the town of Swel Lel Oh, where a five-day meditation retreat was taking place, around 09:15 local time.
The attack took place in the municipality of Myaung, in the central region of Sagaing, considered one of the main hubs of the Buddhist community in a country that has been mired in a civil war for five years triggered by the military coup of 2021.
The Army has not commented on this bombing, although it usually maintains that all its airstrikes are directed against "legitimate" targets.
