The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Friday that his announced "economic war" against Iran does not imply in any case a renunciation or a restriction on possible military responses against the Asian country.
"No, not at all. It just means that we are waiting to see what happens," he noted in statements to the press from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, before departing for an event in South Carolina.
Immediately after, he went on to reiterate that Iranian authorities "have no money, have no Navy, have no Air Force. They do not pay their soldiers, do not pay their police, they have an inflation of 350%."
"So we are just going to see what happens and (...) we have total control of the border. We have total control. If we look at the blockade, we have total control of that entire region regarding the Strait of Hormuz. And that largely includes the land areas," he declared.
The U.S. president has again said that Tehran "would love to reach an agreement" to end hostilities, although he has assured that in the Asian country "they are not prepared to reach the right agreement."
Trump announced this Wednesday an "economic war and unprecedented isolation" against Iran, which he wants to subject to "unprecedented isolation" and threatened to impose "tremendous economic consequences" on any country that allows any aid to Tehran.
