The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has positively assessed the latest package of sanctions approved by the European Union against Russia and has emphasized that this new pressure is "necessary" to move towards the end of the conflict.

"It is the correct and necessary signal of serious commitment to end Russia's war," the Ukrainian leader stated in an official message, in which he highlights that the punitive measures are specifically aimed at individuals and entities linked to the manufacture of ballistic missiles and Shahed drones.

According to the Ukrainian Presidency, these sanctions "limit Russia's ability to continue its aggression against Ukraine." "At the same time, it is important to further restrict access to critical parts and technologies and to strengthen the oversight of compliance with the sanctions," it noted in a statement, insisting that control over the supply of components is key to reducing Russian military potential.

The new package of restrictions, adopted this Monday by the foreign ministers of the European Union, includes 1,569 individuals and entities related to the Russian military-industrial complex. Among those sanctioned are 826 companies and 743 executives, in what represents the largest expansion of the sanctions lists since the invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
