The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has indicated this Friday that he has received direct information from the authorities of the United States about the meetings recently held in Moscow, highlighting the firmness of Washington and its defense of a "completely realistic" vision to achieve the end of the war.

"Today we received information from the U.S. side about the meetings that took place in Moscow these days. There were a series of meetings. We spoke before the meetings, and we have spoken again now with the Americans," the Ukrainian leader stated in a video posted on his social networks, after it was reported that Kiev was not aware of a U.S. visit to Russian territory.

Zelensky has emphasized the need to preserve a coherent diplomatic line and has stressed that it is essential to create the necessary conditions to force the Kremlin to stop the offensive.

"Thank you for the information (referring to Washington) - and for the necessary tone of the conversation with Russia. We value the alignment of steps and the fact that the United States is advancing a realistic vision of what needs to be done and what must be achieved. Russia must end its war, and all necessary conditions must be created for that to happen," the president stated.

This exchange between Washington and Kiev takes place after the unannounced visit of CIA Director John Ratcliffe to the Russian capital on August 24 to hold high-level contacts.
