The first vice president and minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, stated this Monday that he perceives a mobilization of the socialist electorate comparable to that of 2019, and higher than that recorded in 2023, something he attributes to the "illusion" generated by the changes of recent years.
Cuerpo expressed himself in these terms in an interview on RNE, reported by Europa Press, when questioned about whether he considers it possible that on November 29 there could be a surprise at the polls and the Government could again have a majority.
The head of Economy indicated that he has not participated from within in any previous electoral process. "This will be the first and what I do is ask or inform myself about how people who have also lived through previous processes see it," he pointed out, emphasizing that he is guided by the experience of those who have already gone through other campaigns.
After that, he detailed that the "feeling regarding the mobilization of the electorate is that we are closer to 2019 than to 2023, where in 2023 there was a bad news, a blow regarding the poor results of the May elections," in which the PSOE obtained poor results in the local and regional elections.
Likewise, he pointed out that, in his conversations with citizens, he perceives that now "there is an element closer to the illusion that could have existed in 2019" in relation to the changes that Spanish reality has experienced in recent years.
In his opinion, all of this highlights how "useful" it is to focus the debate on the PSOE's vision of how "housing policies should be," labor policies, the future of the economy, the country, or social rights. For this reason, he believes that, in that area of discussion, the PSOE has "a winning model without any doubt."
