The PP will again bring to the Plenary of Congress an initiative to censure the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, this time for how he managed the crisis caused by the massive entry of immigrants in Ceuta last July.
The popular party again focuses its criticism on Marlaska, who already accumulates several censures in this legislature, and leaves out of this initiative any reference to the role played during those days by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles.
The censure proposal has been incorporated into the motion resulting from the interpellation that the popular group directed this Wednesday to the Interior minister. The text is expected to be put to a vote in the hemicycle next Wednesday.
Criticism of management and demand for dismissal
In its motion, the PP intends for the Chamber to condemn Marlaska's actions at the head of the Ministry of the Interior, the "evident lack of protection of the Spanish borders," the "abandonment of Ceuta and its repeated contradictions regarding prior warnings and alerts." The text also demands that the President of the Government proceed with his dismissal.
At the same time, the popular party wants Congress to urge the Executive to immediately and permanently reinforce the presence in the autonomous city of National Police, Civil Guard, and, as long as necessary, Armed Forces in Ceuta, with the human means, material resources, accommodations, allowances, and necessary conditions to ensure border protection, maintain public order, and restore normalcy.
In this regard, Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party demands the implementation of specific security devices in streets, public spaces, educational centers, access points, and usual routes of "schoolchildren, women, and minors."
Likewise, the PP will seek Congress's support for its demand to adopt all necessary measures to guarantee the return or repatriation of people who entered Ceuta irregularly.
To this end, it proposes to use all available legal instruments at the national, European, and bilateral levels, as well as urgently increase the human and material resources allocated to the identification and processing of repatriation, return, or asylum application files.
Unaccompanied minors and diplomatic pressure
Regarding unaccompanied foreign minors, the PP demands that their identification, age determination, and family location be prioritized, in order to proceed, always respecting their best interest, to their return to their family environment or to their provision to the protection services of their country of origin.
In the diplomatic sphere, the formation demands that the Government summon the Spanish ambassador in Morocco for consultations and again convene the Moroccan ambassador in Madrid, in light of the reiteration of the claims about Ceuta and Melilla by members of the Moroccan Executive.
Likewise, it asks the Government to demand detailed explanations about the behavior of the Moroccan authorities during the events of July 30 and 31, and, in particular, about whether they "allowed, consented to, or facilitated the massive entry that violated a Spanish and European border in Ceuta."
