The general secretary of PSOE Aragón, Pilar Alegría, has positively assessed the agreement sealed with CHA and IU in the community to present themselves jointly to the Senate, an understanding that, in her opinion, will allow "the progressive Aragón to be reflected" in the Upper House.
For Alegría, politics is "having that ability to listen to what the citizens were asking us and the progressive, leftist citizens were asking us to have that ability to agree, to dialogue, to come together to be able to go all under that mantle of unity to the Senate and I believe we have managed to convey it in a positive response with that joint candidacy."
She has emphasized that this pact constitutes "good news for the country" and, especially, for Aragón, which will have "its own voice" in the Senate. In this line, Pilar Alegría has defined this understanding as an "exercise in responsibility" that will meet the expectations of the progressive electorate and has expressed her gratitude to the political forces that have made the agreement possible.
These statements were made this Saturday before the media, before attending the Federal Committee of PSOE, the body in which the electoral lists for the general elections on the upcoming November 29 will be ratified.
Pilar Alegría has expressed her satisfaction as the general secretary of PSOE Aragón for having achieved "practically unanimity" in the preparation of the candidacies, "always counting and respecting what the militants --in the autonomous community-- had conveyed to the party leadership."
She has emphasized that all general elections are "key," but that the date of November 29 is "especially" so, because "we are betting on the future we want to continue building so that our country continues to advance on that path of progress, of consolidation of rights that we have been doing with this progressive government since 2018," so PSOE faces this electoral process "with a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness."
The socialist leader in Aragón has highlighted that during these years of PSOE government, there has been a contribution to improving the lives of citizens, "who are for whom we are and for whom we exist." From November 29, she warned, "we have a challenge ahead that needs solutions, because that is what the street is asking for," mentioning housing as one of the most pressing challenges of the upcoming legislature.
Facing the campaign, Alegría has appealed for participation: "I notice and feel that the citizens, since practically the day the elections were called, are eager to vote, are more mobilized than some time ago and that everyday voter, that progressive voter, has more reasons to go to the polls with more conviction seeing that there has been an important capacity of the progressive and left parties to come together."
Likewise, she has confronted the country project defended by the PSOE, based on "continuing to progress and advance," with that which she attributes to the "absolutely indistinguishable coalition of the Partido Popular and Vox, which during this legislature has already shown us that its main interest is to cut social rights, pensions or labor rights, ultimately, to make us go backwards."
The socialists, Pilar Alegría has insisted, "are going out with all the desire to win. There is a desire to win, there is excitement and, above all, there is conviction and beliefs," emphasizing that "citizens deserve a Government that continues to worry and take care of the problems that today the everyday citizen has, which is whom we represent in the Socialist Party and provide them solutions in terms of decent housing, healthcare and a solid public education."
Resignation of Montse Mínguez
In relation to the resignation of Montse Mínguez as spokesperson for the Federal Executive of the PSOE and her "step back" in politics, also renouncing to repeat as head of the list for Congress for Lleida after the controversy over her partner's real estate properties, Pilar Alegría has lamented "deeply" this decision.
She has expressed her respect for a personal decision that she has made, "the result, surely, of that sorrow and that harshness she has had to face from a personal point of view, but politically I can only convey my respect and my recognition, because she is an enormous companion."
"Sometimes, politics presents you with enormous disappointments and if from a personal point of view she has made this decision I can only respect it and of course convey all my affection," Pilar Alegría has concluded.
