The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has reiterated that he feels "optimistic" and "encouraged" ahead of the general elections on November 29 and has expressed his confidence in being able to continue at the head of the Executive, regardless of whether there is an agreement for the forces situated to the left of the PSOE to run jointly.
Without going into detail about the conversations for a possible electoral coalition, he has emphasized that he "knows well" Spanish society and has insisted that he is convinced he will be able to remain in La Moncloa for an additional term.
"If it is not one way, then it will be another, but I am convinced that the path of progress we embarked on eight years ago will continue for four more years," he stated at a press conference held in Brussels, at the end of the European Council meeting.
The leader of the PSOE responded this way when asked about the situation of the negotiations in the left space and the possible confluence between Frente Amplio and Podemos. In this context, he emphasized his absolute respect for the autonomy of these formations and "the decision they make," which must be made public within hours, before the deadline to register coalitions, set for midnight this Friday, October 16.
"I feel very encouraged, I feel optimistic about what is going to happen on November 29, because I believe I know Spanish society well," the head of the Executive reiterated.
