The Education counselor, María del Carmen Castillo, explained this Tuesday that her decision to leave the position of regional deputy responds to an "exercise of responsibility," emphasizing that the work in the Andalusian Parliament is essential and must be performed "full-time," something that in her current situation she cannot assume.
Castillo submitted her resignation as a regional deputy of the PP-A at the end of August, obtained after the elections on May 17, in which she ran as number two on the party's list for the province of Almería.
In an interview on Canal Sur Radio, reported by Europa Press, she pointed out that the Ministry of Education is "sufficiently delicate, important, and takes up so much time" that it prevents her from dedicating herself as she considers necessary to parliamentary work, which, in her opinion, involves working for her province and conveying the problems that arise to Parliament.
In her view, what is "fair" is that another representative from Almería can take on that role, since she cannot fully engage in the province for which she was elected, due to her obligations as a counselor: "It makes me sad, but I believe it is an exercise of responsibility."
