The Central Electoral Board (JEC) has authorized the Office of the Electoral Census to begin sending the documentation related to the elections on November 29 to citizens with the right to vote who reside outside of Spain. However, it has required that a reminder about the suspension of the right to vote agreed upon by the Supreme Court for part of those naturalized under the so-called "grandchildren's law" be included.

The inquiry from the Office of the Electoral Census referred to the sending of documentation to those registered in the Electoral Census of Absentee Residents (CERA), after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not yet sent the detailed information required in the Orders of October 10 from the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the Supreme Court, which agreed to the provisional suspension of the vote for those who have obtained nationality through the "grandchildren's law" without reliably proving their status as descendants of exiles from the civil war and Francoism.

In its resolution, which Europa Press has accessed, the JEC informs the Office of the Electoral Census that the first sending of documentation to voters can take place between October 24 and 30, 2026, but "provided that this sending includes a warning about the possibility of suspension of electoral rights in the terms expressed" in the orders of the Supreme Court.

The Board has also sent its agreement to the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court "in case it considers it appropriate to make any indication to this Board regarding the procedure and deadlines to be followed to comply with the provisions in the aforementioned orders, given the urgency of the legal deadlines that must govern the ongoing electoral process."

On the other hand, at the request of Correos, which has warned of the "unavailability of Buenos Aires airport" on several dates that coincide with the electoral calendar, the JEC has given the green light to advance the first sending of documentation to those registered in the CERA residing in Argentina, including the warning about the possible risk of suspension of the vote. Nevertheless, the effective delivery of the documentation to voters will strictly adhere to the dates set by the current electoral regulations.
