The PSOE has informed that the second phase of the primary calendar, corresponding to the month of September for the autonomous and municipal federations, started this Thursday with a total of 164 registered areas, among which stands out the presidency of La Rioja.

The party detailed it in an official note and its Secretary of Organization, Rebeca Torró, also disseminated it through a message on 'X', in which she expressed her gratitude to those who "have decided to step forward with their enthusiasm and commitment."

In this second window, the island councils of Tenerife, La Palma, and El Hierro, the Insular Council of Ibiza, a candidacy for general deputy of Biscay, and 158 municipalities, including Seville, Bilbao, or Valencia, will also undergo primaries.

"In the PSOE we have all the machinery in motion to form the best leadership and teams to face the electoral cycle of 2027," Torró has pointed out.

This is the second of the three windows —July, September, and November— that, for the first time, the PSOE has made available to the different territorial organizations to register their candidacies.

The calendar sets the deadline for the presentation of candidacies from September 4 to 7, from September 9 to 16 for the collection of endorsements, and on the 26th for the celebration of the first round of voting. If a second round is necessary, the polls would reopen on October 3.

In the first window, held in July, five autonomous communities, two autonomous cities, two island councils, and 21 municipalities participated, totaling 30 areas.

According to Ferraz, this new format of a customized calendar responds to the demand that the territorial organizations had conveyed to the PSOE's Organization Secretariat for the deadlines to be "flexible," allowing each municipality, community, or council to adapt the process to their own needs.
