The demonstrations in support of Ceuta held this Wednesday in different parts of Spain have been accompanied by chants that mix the claim of Ceutí identity, criticisms of the management of the migration crisis, and slogans against the Government of Pedro Sánchez. "A caballa never surrenders," "Ceuta united will never be defeated," "Pedro Sánchez, resignation" or "Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch" have been some of the messages chanted during the mobilizations.
In Ceuta, where thousands of people have marched through the streets of the autonomous city, the attendees started the march shouting "Where are the reports?", amid the controversy over the prior alerts and the report from the National Center for Immigration and Borders (CENIF) regarding the events of July 30 and 31.
The claim of the city's identity has also occupied a good part of the slogans. During the protest, "Ceuta united will never be defeated", "I am Spanish," and "A caballa never surrenders" were heard, while numerous participants carried flags of Spain and Ceuta.
"It is not migration, it is invasion"
The management of migration has featured another part of the messages. Among the chants heard during the mobilizations is "It is not migration, it is invasion", a phrase that has also been chanted at the concentration held in front of the Congress of Deputies in Madrid.
In Ceuta, "Invaders, expulsion" has also been heard, while some of the banners demanded a "special legal solution" for the departure of migrants and others directed their requests towards Europe with messages like "SOS Europe Save Us."
From "Pedro Sánchez, resignation" to insults against the president
The mobilizations have also included slogans directly aimed at the Executive. "Pedro Sánchez, resignation" has been one of them, along with other messages critical of the Government's actions during the crisis.
In the concentrations in Madrid, insults against the president of the Government have also been heard, including "Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch," both in the surroundings of Cibeles and in front of the Congress of Deputies.
The slogans have occurred during a day of mobilizations coinciding with the Day of Ceuta and marked by the political controversy over the Government's response and the role played by Morocco during the massive entry at the end of July.
