This Thursday, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) issued an official statement in which it announced the agreement reached between the RFEF, LALIGA and DAZN to create La Liga Prime Futsal that will start the season this 2026. The sports streaming platform will offer live matches only for customers who have a Football and Premium subscription. Thus, DAZN will broadcast eight matches per matchday during the final, reaching a total of 240 matches during the 30 matchdays that La Liga Prime will have.
La Liga Prime Futsal kicks off
The Royal Federation has announced that La Liga will start next weekend, September 12 and 13 with the start of the Opening Tournament that will last 15 matchdays, until December. Likewise, the competition will have a Closing Tournament, also of 15 matchdays, which will start in January and end in May. The qualified teams will play the playoffs in June 2027.
For now, the competition will be exclusively male, so it will be necessary to wait for the results of La Liga to see if the organizers expand the competition. In addition, the agreement includes a free live broadcast offered by the public channel Teledeporte (Tdp).
A new stage for Spanish futsal
The entry of DAZN coincides with the premiere of the new identity and the new competitive system of the top category. The RFEF seeks to increase the visibility of the championship and facilitate that fans can access all matches, not only those selected by a conventional television.
The agreement affects the main league of a sport in which Spain maintains a prominent position. The men's national team has won two World Cups and eight European Championships, while the women's team has conquered three European championships and won the bronze medal in the last World Cup.
Since September, Liga Prime Futsal will thus combine two broadcasting models: full paid coverage on DAZN and a free weekly match on Teledeporte.
