The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Food of the Generalitat has communicated the detection of 9 new positive cases of African swine fever (ASF) in the province of Barcelona, all of them located within the high-risk area: 5 in Molins de Rei, 2 in Papiol, and 1 in Barcelona and in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

According to a statement released this Thursday, during the last week, 368 samples have been analyzed, so the positive cases represent 2.4% of the total. Since the outbreak was declared in November 2025, the accumulated figure rises to 409 positives.

In that same period, 266 wild boars have been captured within the restricted perimeter, which also includes the municipalities classified as low-risk area, thus raising the total number of captures to 13,115 animals.

The Government maintains active the device for the eradication of the disease and has deployed 34 individual traps and 93 collective traps with the aim of preventing both the entry and exit of animals from the high-risk area.

Likewise, during the last weekend, 12 hunting drives have been carried out in the low-risk area, with the participation of 213 hunters, 201 dogs, and another 35 additional hunters in stalking mode.
