The president of the Valladolid Provincial Council, Conrado Íscar, has once again put wool at the center, considering it a "great opportunity" to prestige the rural world, as well as agriculture and livestock, during the opening of the first Wool Festival of Velliza, a small municipality in Valladolid located in the Montes Torozos region.
Íscar has emphasized the relevance of a locality with just over a hundred residents daring to promote an event of this type, which in his view implies "valuing the rural world" and, at the same time, projecting the image of the province of Valladolid.
The head of the provincial institution has highlighted that the Valladolid towns, despite their small population, aspire to "have life" and has stressed that in this task, "the countryside, agriculture, and livestock" play an essential role, activities directly linked to the obtaining of wool.
In this regard, he pointed out that, although today it may be seen as "a residue," from the Provincial Council, wool is conceived as "a great opportunity" compared to other products. "Nowadays we live with synthetic textile material, but we must continue to defend our wool, our origin, and our nature," he stated.
During his speech, Íscar had words of recognition for the Velliza Town Hall, for its mayor, Luis Miguel Serrador, and for the organizing association, whom he congratulated for promoting this new festival.
Likewise, the president of the Provincial Council thanked the attendance of the Government delegate in Castilla y León, Nicanor Sen, and valued that the central Executive "bets on the rural world" and supports proposals like this Wool Festival.
