The counselor of Agriculture, Fishing, Water, and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, has demanded "commitment" from the senior officials of his department who took office this Friday, in order to face the main challenges of the legislature. Among them are the approval of the first sustainable irrigation law of Andalusia, the implementation of the first strategy for the Andalusian agro-industry, and the reform of the current Water Law of Andalusia, "always alongside the sectors".
Before presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Ministry in Seville, the regional official explained in statements to Europa Press that "this is a simple act, but full of symbolism, in which we wanted to summon the different sectors for which we work in this Ministry".
Fernández-Pacheco has specified some of the milestones set for this term, such as the first Sustainable Irrigation Law of Andalusia, about which he has advanced that "the General Secretariat of Water is already working", along with the modification of the current Water Law of Andalusia and the approval of the first strategy for the Andalusian agro-industry. He has also emphasized as a priority line "to continue promoting generational change in the primary sector, both in agriculture and livestock as well as in fishing".
The counselor has insisted that the aim is to achieve these "ambitious objectives always alongside the sectors". In this regard, he recalled that "dialogue is the hallmark of the Government of Juanma Moreno", so the legislature in the Ministry "has precisely begun with the convening of the different dialogue tables".
He detailed that "we have already had the one for agriculture, the one for fishing, we have met with the one for agro-industry, and next week we will convene the social dialogue table, in which both the unions and the employers are represented".
In this scenario, he has expressed confidence that his team "has experience and enthusiasm in equal parts" and has guaranteed that "the Junta de Andalucía will be up to the task" so that the Andalusians who depend on the primary sector, "the first social and economic sector of Andalusia", see their "demands and objectives met with a close Administration that will always work by their side".
During the ceremony, the head of Agriculture has asked the senior officials for "commitment, loyalty, responsibility, and effectiveness" to face the challenges of the new political period. At the same time, he has highlighted that the renewed team faces this phase with "experience, knowledge, and a strong desire to work" and has reiterated his commitment to maintaining a constant dialogue and active listening with the sector. "We want to continue making the Andalusian primary sector stronger, more competitive, and more profitable. We have many possibilities to do it and we are going to do it," he has emphasized.
