The secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has demanded from the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that he "disavow" and demand "immediate apologies" from the president of the Valencia Provincial Council, Vicente Mompó, after he referred to the Minister of Science and general secretary of the Valencian socialists, Diana Morant, as "Pedro Sánchez's lickspittle."

The controversy originated from a message from Mompó on his X profile this Friday, in response to a previous 'tweet' from Morant. The minister had reacted to a news report regarding the report from the Human Resources Department of the Provincial Council sent to the judge of Catarroja who is investigating the management of the dana.

In her post on X on Thursday, Morant criticized: "So clear: the Diputació de València warned its workers and suspended activities due to the dana. Its president, who was in the Cecopi, knew it. Mompó was aware of the preventive measures but decided to inform only his inner circle. The rest of the Valencians, not."

Mompó responded this Friday to the message from the PSPV leader: "The sane Valencians were trying to help. Instead, you appeared two days later in the helicopter with Pedro Sánchez, the one who said 'If they want more resources, let them ask for them.' Everyone knows that, in the tragedies we have suffered, you have been much more concerned about where the cameras are than about the affected people." He then attacks Morant: "Diana, you will always be Zapatero's daughter, Sánchez's lickspittle. You are worth nothing, that clear."

Reactions from the PSOE and accusations of "stale machismo"

Also through social networks, Torró has insisted that Feijóo "must demand immediate apologies from Mompó and disavow his words." She has denounced: "Enough with the insults and this stale machismo. When will there be a PP that does not insult or turn politics into a mud pit?" she wrote on X.

The spokesperson for the federal Executive, Montse Mínguez, has also pointed out that "since Feijóo signed" agreements for regional governments with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, "the package has come complete: hatred, machismo, and the infinite vocabulary of insults that accompany them." "And all this is what they allow themselves to say in public. They are savages!" she has stated.

From the official PSOE account, the "level of the PP" has been criticized on social media for calling a woman "ass-kisser" and telling her that "she is worth nothing." "It should have consequences, especially if it comes from a public official. And Feijóo as always, silent. Is this the PP that wasn't going to insult? Not everything goes," the party has reproached.

The Government delegate in the Valencian Community and secretary of Equality of the PSOE, Pilar Bernabé, has questioned "where are the limits of these people." "What will be next? This cannot be the way to do politics on the right, to see who throws the biggest insult and always with special recurrence against women," she has stated.

For his part, the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has criticized through several messages on X that "a president of the Diputación" can "speak like this" and has lamented that, when he responds, they reproach him for his manners claiming that "'a minister cannot say that'."

In this line, Puente has denounced that, however, that tone is allowed to "the President of a Community, the President of a Diputación, the head of the opposition, a mayor or the chorus in the media."

PSPV leaders attack Mompó

Several officials of the PSPV have come forward to condemn the message from the president of the Diputació. The secretary of Organization of the Valencian socialists, Vicent Mascarell, has reproached Mompó for speaking "the most lying president after --the 'former president' of the Generalitat Carlos-- Mazón, the one who remembers nothing, the one who deleted calls and whatsapps, the one who only notified the family" on the day of the dana. "What a shame. Shut your mouth or speak to tell the truth," he concludes.

The spokesperson of the PSPV in Les Corts, José Muñoz, has added that he does not know if the message from the president of the PP of the province of Valencia causes him "more disgust for being sexist or for the aggressiveness of the comment" and has demanded from the 'popular' leader an "immediate apology."

Likewise, the PSOE deputy in Congress Víctor Camino has labeled Mompó's tweet as "sexist and rude" and has defended that this "is not only against Diana Morant," but also against the current head of the Consell, Juanfran Pérez Llorca.

"With insults, Mompó thinks that --the leader of the PP Alberto Núñez-- Feijóo will designate him as a candidate and not the current 'president'. This is the Valencian PP. We have to turn the page on Mazón's boys," he has emphasized.
