The Education counselor, María del Carmen Castillo, has reiterated that the works of the future CEIP Intelhorce in the Málaga capital "are progressing normally" and has emphasized that the center will have "225 school places and the forecast is, if necessary, to expand it." She added that the students have started classes again in the provisional center "one more year, but already with the hope that it will be the last."

Castillo responded to the question from the Vox deputy for Málaga, Antonio Sevilla, who asked her if the works continue "on schedule, which initially was 15 months" and recalled the "long road" since problems were detected in the old buildings. Sevilla also mentioned the numerous initiatives and issues registered by his group on this matter.

The head of Education, who wanted to thank the families "for their patience," recalled that the two buildings of the school located in Campanillas "presented structural pathologies that forced the evacuation of the students," which led to their transfer to another center, where "they have started one more year, but already with the hope that it will be the last."

Castillo acknowledged that this is an intervention "long awaited in the District of Cruz de Humilladero" and explained that, "following the criteria of the technicians, we opted to demolish and build a new building in the same place to provide the students of this neighborhood with a modern center."

She specified that the action involves an investment of 6.7 million euros and emphasized that the goal is to have "a modern, accessible, sustainable center adapted not only to current needs but with space for future expansion, because it is true that it is a growth area."

The new school, with 2,175 square meters built on a plot of 9,544, will include three multipurpose classrooms for Early Childhood, six for Primary, spaces for Special Education, two small group classrooms, and resource classrooms. It will also have a gym, library, multipurpose room, and a specific office for the Parents' Association, "who deserve it for the patience they have had," she pointed out.

The project also includes a dining room with its own kitchen, a cleaning room, various auxiliary dependencies, and differentiated porches for Early Childhood and Primary Education. Castillo has emphasized that it will be "an efficient building, like all the ones we make, with photovoltaic solar panels, bioclimatization, with cross ventilation and with the idea of reducing energy consumption and making it sustainable."

For his part, Sevilla has reminded that families "have been waiting for a definitive solution for years after the old center had to stop being used due to structural problems" and has positively assessed the progress of the works, also thanking the Vox team in Málaga "for their insistence, their work" to promote these actions.

The parliamentarian has insisted that, thanks to the agreement between PP and Vox, his party has managed to "get the PP Government moving and make them carry out this reform and this work more quickly and efficiently."
