The deputy of Más Madrid in the Assembly, Emilio Delgado, has attacked the Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso by stating that it is dedicated to "controlling everything" and that it has the "support" of the power brokers to favor private interests, thus raising the question of "why" the PP wants to exercise power in Spain.
During his speech in the Plenary, Delgado emphasized that the PP has an absolute majority in the regional Chamber and mentioned the backing that, as he indicated, it receives from the judicial career, certain media outlets, and economic power. "You have all this power and I wonder what you have done with it," he questioned.
In his critical review, he pointed out the tax cuts aimed at the highest incomes, the diversion of resources to private healthcare, the management of waiting lists, segregation in the educational system, and the obstacles to accessing housing. He also accused the Madrid government of favoring investment funds and of having distributed public money "among you and your friends."
"And now you also want power in Spain. I wonder, why? Why do you want power in Spain?" Delgado reiterated, hinting whether the PP intends to promote a "patriotic police," allocate 50 billion euros to armament, or keep the minimum wage frozen and privatize pensions.
The parliamentarian of Más Madrid also criticized the opposition's allusions to a possible electoral fraud, which he described as the "mysterious case of the intermittent electoral fraud," and demanded that the regional government clarify what measures it plans to implement in the remaining time of the legislature with its absolute majority.
García Martín replies and accuses the central government
In his response, the Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, and spokesperson for the regional Executive, Miguel Ángel García Martín, has placed among his priorities "to throw Pedro Sánchez out of the Palace of Moncloa," while holding the central government responsible for failing to meet its commitments regarding housing, contrasting the 180,000 homes announced with those actually executed.
The minister has also attributed to state policies the withdrawal from the market of more than 400,000 homes and has criticized the two royal decrees on housing that the central Executive wants to validate in the Permanent Deputation, understanding that they will have a negative impact on the rental market.
In this line, García Martín has announced that the Government of the Community of Madrid is going to "appeal" the approval of the decree and has defended that it will continue to protect both tenants and "private property".
Finally, he has criticized Pedro Sánchez's Executive for its management of public services, railway infrastructure, and healthcare, as well as tax increases. He has contrasted these measures with the tax cuts applied by the Community of Madrid and has revived the slogan "communism or freedom" in view of the upcoming general elections.
