The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has informed the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, of the "willingness" of the president of the governing body of judges and the Supreme Court (TS), Isabel Perelló, "to hold a meeting with him as soon as possible" in order to address the migration crisis and the legal needs of the autonomous city.
According to the CGPJ itself on its official account on the social network 'X', this message is framed within the trip made by the member of the governing body of judges, José Antonio Moreno, who traveled this Thursday to Ceuta and held meetings with judges and magistrates of the Court of Instance to study the shortcomings of the judicial bodies after the massive entry of tens of thousands of people from Morocco on July 30 and 31.
During his visit, Moreno also held a meeting with Vivas, to whom he conveyed the "solidarity" of the Council in light of the situation facing the autonomous city, as well as Perelló's willingness to hold that meeting "as soon as possible."
This movement occurs after the governing body of judges issued a statement in which it considered "necessary" to reinforce the on-call duty in the courts of instruction and in those of violence against women in Ceuta, with the aim of "addressing the migration crisis."
The CGPJ explained that it had sent this assessment to the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, Ceuta, and Melilla and to the president of the Court of Instance of Ceuta so that they could formalize the request for reinforcements, also suggesting the incorporation of "expert personnel."
In relation to this issue, the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Courts indicated that it already had the approval for said reinforcement prepared, pending only for the CGPJ to submit the request formally.
