A brawl between two migrants registered during the early hours of this Saturday in Ceuta has resulted in one arrest and another man admitted to the University Hospital. Both had entered the autonomous city irregularly during the migration crisis of July 30.
According to police and neighborhood sources, the incident took place in the Miramar neighborhood, an area close to the border with Morocco where some of the people who arrived in recent weeks are also concentrated.
A discussion ended in aggression
The events began with a discussion between two migrants that ended up escalating into an aggression. During the confrontation, one of them fell down a nearby embankment and was left unconscious on the ground.
The neighbors who witnessed the scene alerted the emergency services upon seeing that the victim was bleeding profusely from the head. An ambulance arrived at the scene, which transported the injured person to the University Hospital of Ceuta, where he remains hospitalized.
The alleged aggressor, arrested
The other involved, of Moroccan nationality like the victim, was located and arrested by National Police officers.
The expectation is that he will be brought before a judge in the coming hours as the alleged perpetrator of an assault, while investigators try to clarify the exact circumstances that triggered the fight.
New incident after the crisis of July 30
The brawl occurs in a context marked by the consequences of the massive entry of migrants registered on July 30, which has forced the reinforcement of police presence and care devices at different points in Ceuta.
Miramar, due to its proximity to the border perimeter, is one of the areas where concentrations of people who arrived on that day have occurred. The incident this Saturday adds a new episode of tension in a city that continues to manage the social and security consequences derived from that crisis.
For now, the victim remains hospitalized and the detainee is under police custody awaiting to be brought before a judge.
