UPN and the Popular Party have reached a principle of understanding to jointly present themselves for the general elections on the upcoming November 29. This pact must receive the final approval this Tuesday from the Political Council of UPN, the body that will have the final word.

The joint candidacy will be registered under the official name "Union of the Navarrese People in coalition with the Popular Party" and the candidate for the Presidency of the Government will be the national president of the PP and head of the list for the general elections, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

According to UPN in a statement, the agreement stipulates that both formations are obliged to "respect and safeguard the foral regime and maintain the Economic Agreement as the best instrument to ensure the freedom, stability, cohesion, and development of the citizens of Navarre."

Likewise, the two political forces reiterate their support for the Improvement of the Foral Law and commit to promoting and voting for the repeal of the fourth transitional provision of the Spanish Constitution, which includes the possible mechanism for the incorporation of Navarre into Euskadi, within the framework of a potential constitutional reform.

In the chapter on infrastructure, UPN and PP have agreed that, from the governmental responsibilities they may assume, "the execution of the necessary state investments to develop the strategic infrastructures of Navarre, such as the second phase of the Navarre Canal, the high-speed train and its connection with the Basque Y, the Pamplona airport, and the reinforcement of the electrical network of Navarre will be promoted and guaranteed."

The document also provides that the common electoral program of the coalition will be prepared and validated by a drafting committee made up of representatives from both parties, in order to gather and synthesize the proposals from the two formations.

UPN has emphasized that the purpose of this understanding is "to join forces in the foral Community between both center-right formations to contribute from Navarre to oust Pedro Sánchez from the Government."
