The councilor of Territory and spokesperson for the Catalan Govern, Sílvia Paneque, has detailed that her Department is maintaining contacts with the residents affected by the sinkhole in the Putxet neighborhood of Barcelona, who are preparing a collective lawsuit against the Generalitat, with the aim of preventing the conflict from ending up in court.
In the press conference following the Consell Executiu this Tuesday, she pointed out that the neighbors have "every right to initiate this process and to continue it," although she emphasized that the Generalitat is trying, whenever feasible, to reach an agreement with the families so that the case does not go to the judicial sphere.
Paneque has highlighted that the Govern, in the first days after the incident, focused on managing the emergency and, subsequently, on the "financing and support mechanisms for the families" through advances, with the purpose of ensuring that the situation does not impose an additional economic cost on them.
