The Ministry of Interior and Public Security of the Generalitat of Catalonia has warned that it will communicate to the specialized section on hate crimes of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Barcelona those proclamations that may fit into a hate crime during the concentration called by the ultra platform "Save Europe Act," scheduled for the afternoon of this Saturday in the Sant Jaume square of Barcelona.
In a statement, the department indicates that the device of the Mossos d'Esquadra has been intensified to control and verify that the interventions, banners, and symbols displayed do not promote, support, or call "for hatred, hostility, discrimination, or violence against a group, for reasons of religion or beliefs, or for the membership of its members to an ethnicity, race, or nation."
Thus, the Govern emphasizes that the right to assembly and demonstration is a fundamental right, "but it is not absolute," and reaffirms its commitment to respect for current legality, the defense of equal treatment and non-discrimination, as well as the preservation of the dignity of individuals and coexistence.
