The secretary of Organization of PSOE-M, Pilar Sánchez Acera, has criticized this Friday the Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso for appointing the former regional presidents Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, Esperanza Aguirre, and Cristina Cifuentes as members of the Legal Advisory Commission of the Community of Madrid, with the aim of having them support her defense of the Chamberí attic acquired by Planifica Madrid and funded their fees with public funds from the people of Madrid.

In statements sent to the media, Sánchez Acera has positioned the incorporation of the former Madrid PP leaders to this advisory body on legal matters of the regional Administration as a way to "pay" for them to "support her in her defense of the attic" purchased by the Community of Madrid on General Martínez Campos promenade.

"It seems that Ayuso has indeed found a way to pay the presidents of the Popular Party to support her in her defense of the attic and her opaque trips, this time making them members of this Legal Commission," she pointed out.

Specifically, the Governing Council of the Community of Madrid gave the green light in its meeting on July 22 to the appointment of Aguirre, Gallardón, and Cifuentes to this body responsible for drafting opinions on matters of special legal significance that are raised by the regional Executive and other public administrations.

From the regional Government, they remind that, although the reports of this body are advisory in nature, they represent a significant legal reference for the actions of the public administrations of Madrid. In the case of Joaquín Leguina, currently at the head of the Court of Accounts, his entry into the commission has not been agreed upon.

PAID WITH THE TAXES OF ALL MADRILEÑOS

From PSOE-M, the head of Organization has emphasized that this "support" from the three former PP presidents to the Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso will be made "charged to the budgets of all madrileños." "Let it not be that Mrs. Ayuso makes a mistake," she has joked.

In the same vein, in an official message on the social network X, the PSOE of Madrid has described this "little payment" to these former presidents "who closed the Advisory Council, to compensate" as "shameful." "Ayuso rewards, with public money, the former presidents to support the purchase of the attic and her opaque trips," the party has insisted.

The Madrid socialist leader has responded this way to information from the newspaper 'El País' regarding the payment of these allowances. According to the newspaper, former presidents will receive an allowance of 750 euros for each attendance at the Legal Advisory Commission of Madrid, which met 45 times in 2025, a year in which they would have reached an income of 33,750 euros if they attended all sessions.

Sources from the Presidency Department have indicated to Europa Press that these 750 euros as an allowance represent the maximum possible amount and not a fixed amount guaranteed for each Plenary. "The effective amount will depend on the plenaries attended and the specific conditions applicable in each case," they have clarified from the department headed by Miguel Ángel García Martín.

In this regard, they have clarified that the final remuneration will be conditioned both on actual attendance —dependent on personal circumstances that allow or do not allow attendance— and on what the applicable regulations establish in each case.

The Statute of Former Presidents of the Community of Madrid, regulated by Decree 59/2025, establishes that former presidents who have served at least two years in office since the beginning of the Legislature may, after their cessation, be appointed as elected members of this commission.

The Community of Madrid approved its Statute for former presidents and the rest of the members of the Governing Council a year ago once they cease, with the aim of "aligning with the State and the autonomous communities."

The text included compensation for former regional presidents from this mandate of 80% of their remuneration for a maximum of 24 months, while the rest may perform advisory functions and receive an indemnity of 750 euros for attending the commissions.

It also provides that those who have been regional heads for a minimum of two years may have, during the two years following their departure from office, personal and material support resources.
