The spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid City Council, Reyes Maroto, has issued a warning to the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, considering that trying to "justify the unjustifiable" after the words of the president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, about voting by mail represents "a path" that will "run over" the PP.

"Almeida, I am going to explain it to you simply: what your boss is proposing is a blow to the rules of democracy and today you are trying to justify the unjustifiable. Continue down that path. It will run over all of you," Maroto pointed out in a post on the social network 'X'.

The socialist leader was responding to the statements of the Madrid mayor from Valdecarros, where he defended that Ayuso what she did was express that "she prefers to vote in person" and "that's it," after the head of the Madrid Executive called on Spaniards not to use voting by mail in the general elections on November 29 due to possible "adulterations."

"What President Ayuso said yesterday is that first you have to go vote and I think it is essential that we tell everyone to go vote. And secondly, she leans towards the option of in-person voting instead of voting by mail. I don't think there is any problem with that either," Almeida stated, who has demanded that the controversy not be fueled further nor should it "enter the framework of what the PSOE intends to propose."
