The Government plans to authorize at the Council of Ministers this Tuesday the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to put out to tender an investment of 27.8 million euros aimed at launching a new version of the Automated Air Traffic Control System (Sacta), through Enaire, with the aim of continuing to incorporate operational improvements.
According to a statement, the execution period for this investment will be 36 months and corresponds to the second phase of integration of the automated air navigation system in the version called Sacta-iTEC 5.01.
This update will constitute the basis on which Enaire will be able to modernize the technological architecture of the air traffic control system, deploy new functionalities, manage trajectories in four dimensions, incorporate advanced planning capabilities with aids for conflict detection, and ensure compliance with applicable community regulations for the system, all within a collaborative development environment under the iTEC Alliance.
"The implementation of this tool will mark a milestone in the automation and digital transformation of air traffic management in Spain," valued the air navigation manager.
In the first phase already completed, a first integration of the components of the national Sacta system with the iTEC SkyNex elements was carried out, which allowed establishing a technical baseline to verify initial operability, detect dependencies, and specify the necessary actions to complete the integration in later stages.
Thanks to this phase, a preliminary integrated environment was available and essential information was obtained to design the current phase 2, to which this file refers.
The file is part of the integration project of the current Automated Air Traffic Control System (Sacta) in the joint development carried out by the providers that make up the iTEC Alliance, in order to converge on a common product called SkyNex. The forecast is that this evolution of the system will be operational in Enaire's control centers starting in 2029.
