The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Friday the appointment of television commentator Katie Zacharia as the new White House spokesperson, succeeding Karoline Leavitt, who left the position last August citing the need to balance her professional life with her recent motherhood.
"It is a great honor for me to have recently appointed Katie Zacharia as press secretary. Katie currently holds the position of senior communications advisor at Truth Social (Trump Media and Technology Group), where she has excelled in her excellent work," he noted, referring to the platform that the president himself launched at the end of 2021.
The American leader emphasized Zacharia's career — who previously served as spokesperson and deputy undersecretary at the Department of Homeland Security — and her "impeccable record of support," recalling that she has been part of his presidential campaigns.
This frequent analyst in conservative media such as Fox and Newsmax, born in California, "has been a loyal and brilliant collaborator from the beginning. Additionally, a fervent supporter and member of MAGA ('Make America Great Again')," Trump has considered.
"I am convinced that Katie will achieve excellent results for our country as the next White House press secretary, as she has earned the respect of the media, the American people, and my Administration, and will collaborate fantastically with them. Katie replaces the fabulous Karoline Leavitt, who did a fantastic job as press secretary," the president added.
The position of White House spokesperson is considered one of the most relevant within the Administration, serving as the official voice of the president and the main channel of communication with journalists. Zacharia will assume these duties at a key moment, with the midterm elections set for November 3rd.
