The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has indicated that he hopes to hold a meeting in Kiev in the coming days with the envoys of the president, Donald Trump, involved in the negotiations with Russia, once they first complete a visit to Moscow.
"I just had a meeting with the team in charge of the negotiations with the envoys of the president of the United States. We are in communication with them practically 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and now we are preparing for the meetings. Provisional dates have already been established," the Ukrainian leader stated in one of his daily videos about the progress of the war.
In this regard, he specified that his intention is to receive in the Ukrainian capital the American representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. "They have confirmed that they will hold a meeting in Moscow and another in Kiev. We hope that the latter will take place in the coming days. This is very important," he emphasized, highlighting the importance of Washington continuing to be "actively" involved in the contacts aimed at ending the conflict.
However, Zelensky insisted that the meeting with the envoys of the United States must have "substantive content." A few days ago, he recalled that he had a "detailed" and "constructive" conversation with Witkoff and Kushner in the context of attempts to reactivate the trilateral negotiations in which the United States acts as a mediator between Russians and Ukrainians, a process that was suspended after the offensive launched against Iran in February.
Regarding his international agenda, he reiterated that Russia must feel the economic pressure. "We need to act not only through statements, nor solely through persuasion, but also by using the necessary economic tools that have an impact on the aggressor," he pointed out.
For this reason, the Ukrainian leader has announced that throughout the month of September he will hold the "relevant" meetings to strengthen the pressure campaign on Moscow "so that it feels the economic consequences."
