The Government of La Rioja has announced the exhibition "AutorIA. La Rioja, land of Spanish" before community institutions during the 173rd Plenary of the European Committee of the Regions (CdR), which has been held today, the 13th, in Brussels. The General Director of Funds and Relations with the European Union, Jesús Ángel Garrido, has conveyed to the European Commissioner for Intergenerational Justice, Youth, Culture and Sport, Glenn Micalleff, the relevance of this initiative, "an example of union between culture and Artificial Intelligence," as well as its contribution to the goals set in the Culture Compass for Europe.
In the meeting, focused on European cultural policy, Jesús Ángel Garrido has highlighted "the capacity of 'AutorIA. La Rioja, land of Spanish' to show how culture can strengthen the bond between people and their territory and incorporate new technologies to bring heritage and cultural creation closer to citizens."
Likewise, he emphasized that the exhibition "places creators at the center of cultural action and constitutes an example of how artificial intelligence can be incorporated into new cultural proposals without losing the connection with the territory and its identity."
In this line, he insisted that a community like La Rioja "can also contribute to the European objectives of promoting a more accessible and participatory culture, connected with people and with digital transformation." The exhibition maintains a direct link with the space where it is displayed: the monasteries of Suso and Yuso, in San Millán de la Cogolla, declared World Heritage by UNESCO and recognized as the cradle of Spanish.
Garrido has recalled the role that these monasteries played for centuries as great centers of knowledge and culture in medieval Europe, a legacy that is linked to the vocation of "AutorIA. La Rioja, land of Spanish" to traverse the history, evolution, and future of Spanish.
To conclude, the General Director has encouraged the European Commissioner and the other local and regional representatives attending the Plenary to travel to La Rioja and see the exhibition firsthand, which relates the linguistic heritage of La Rioja with the opportunities opened by new technologies.
