The president of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has appointed the spokesperson of the Popular Group in Congress, Ester Muñoz, as the new campaign spokesperson for the party, while the deputy secretary of Sectoral Coordination, Alma Ezcurra, will take on the preparation of the electoral program, according to the party itself.
Feijóo will officially convey these appointments to the PP during the meeting of the National Executive Board —the highest body of the party between congresses— called for this Thursday in Madrid, with the aim of maximizing the territorial structure and preparing the electoral device.
At that meeting, the leader of the PP will announce the complete composition of his campaign committee for the upcoming general elections. Party sources indicate that the secretary general, Miguel Tellado, is the main favorite to lead the campaign, being a person of utmost trust for Feijóo.
In the general elections of 2023, Feijóo already relied on Elías Bendodo as the executive coordinator of the campaign on July 23, on Cuca Gamarra for the coordination of the electoral program, and on Miguel Tellado to lead the candidacies, while Borja Sémper then took on the spokesperson role.
Feijóo bets on two "young women"
For the moment, the PP has advanced that Feijóo will communicate this Thursday to the National Executive Board the appointment of Ezcurra as responsible for drafting the electoral program for the elections on November 29. Likewise, he will appoint Ester Muñoz as campaign spokesperson, thereby strengthening the dissemination of the party's message to the national spokesperson, Borja Sémper.
"Feijóo thus consolidates two young women, but above all two of his most solid leaders in the development of their respective functions," sources from the PP have emphasized after these appointments to lead key areas of the campaign were made public.
The PP prepares an intense agenda
At the same time, the 'popular' are finalizing a very tight agenda for Feijóo that will take him to "cover many kilometers" and visit all the autonomous communities, according to sources from the formation indicated to Europa Press.
This Wednesday, the leader of the PP starred in his first pre-campaign event in Ceuta, where he supported the president of the city, Juan Jesús Vivas, in managing the crisis arising from the massive entry of immigrants recorded at the end of July.
This Saturday, Núñez Feijóo will participate in an event at Ifema Madrid alongside the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
