The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has reiterated "all" his "support" for the president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, ahead of the second round of the Brazilian general elections, scheduled for next October 25.
In a message published this Wednesday on the social network X and reported by Europa Press, the head of the Executive has emphasized that "Lula represents a Brazil that fights against injustice and inequality, that expands rights, and that defends democracy against authoritarianism."
Sánchez has added that "that Brazil deserves to continue advancing towards a future of hope and progress," referring to the political project embodied by the current Brazilian president.
This public support comes at a decisive moment, after the victory in the first round of the far-right candidate of the Liberal Party (PL) for the Presidency of Brazil and also son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Flávio Bolsonaro.
In the first ballot, the PL candidate obtained 47.17% of the votes, compared to the 45% achieved by Lula da Silva. As neither of the candidates reached the absolute majority required to declare themselves the winner directly, both will face each other again in the second round on October 25, in which it will be decided who will be the next president of Brazil.
