The Provincial Committee of the PSOE of Cádiz has validated the proposal of candidacies from the province to the General Courts, endorsing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, as the first name for the Congress of Deputies and Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, the general secretary of the Gaditan socialists, as "number one" on the Senate list.

Before the start of the conclave, Ruiz Boix emphasized before journalists the contribution of Albares in the negotiation of the treaty on Gibraltar, which began to be applied provisionally on July 15 and resulted in the disappearance of the Fence in La Línea de la Concepción.

In relation to this pact, he pointed out that it is "historic, the result of a seven-year negotiation, which allows not to have a border today, ensuring the fluidity and unity of the eight towns of the Campo de Gibraltar, which brings growth and advances for the whole province."

The candidacy for Congress backed by the provincial body places the deputy Mamen Sánchez again as "number two," repeating the position she already held in the general elections of July 2023. The until now socialist senator and mayor of Villaluenga, Alfonso Moscoso, is in third place, while María Isabel Moreno Fernández appears in fourth place. In the 2023 elections, the PSOE of Cádiz obtained three seats: Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Mamen Sánchez, and Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix.

As for the Senate, the PSOE list for Cádiz will be led by Ruiz Boix himself, mayor of San Roque, followed by Natalia Álvarez and Javier Rodríguez.

Defense of the Government's balance in the province

During the meeting of the Provincial Committee, convened to ratify the socialist lists for Congress and Senate, Ruiz Boix claimed the actions of the central Executive in the province of Cádiz.

Thus, he assured that the group of "women and men" of the Gaditan PSOE is going to "defend tooth and nail the good management balance of Pedro Sánchez's Government" in the province, setting as a goal "to continue dignifying employment, revaluing pensions, increasing funds for scholarships, and generating greater economic activity."

The plenary session began with a minute of silence in memory of the former mayor of Rota Domingo Sánchez Rizo. Next, the provincial leader resorted to the figures to "dismantle the catastrophic discourse of the right," recalling that the unemployment lists "have been reduced by more than 35%, with 60,000 fewer unemployed since Pedro Sánchez has been in power."

A "milestone" that he directly linked to "the greater workload driven by the State in the shipyards of Navantia in Cádiz, Puerto Real, and San Fernando," as well as to the push of the aerospace sector with Airbus, "where we have the best numbers," he specified.

Referring to the Senate list, which he will head himself, he emphasized that the PSOE "is the only party that holds assemblies and primaries for the more than 5,000 members to express their opinion, compared to the model of appointments by hand of other formations."

Criticism of the local government of Barbate

In his speech, Ruiz Boix also pointed out the need to "combat the immobility of the municipal governments supported by the right," citing as a "blatant example of this mismanagement" the City Council of Barbate, presided over by Miguel Molina (AxSí) with the support of the PP.

"It is a sleeping government, a government that does not work and that only operates by the inertia of previous years," he denounced emphatically.

The top official of the PSOE in the province also reproached "the submission" of the Barbate mayor to the Junta de Andalucía of Juanma Moreno, lamenting that Molina "does not position himself in defense of his municipality, but is at the service of what the Popular Party demands."

In the face of this "paralysis and lack of claim," he highlighted "the constant and intense work" of the socialist candidate for the Mayor’s Office, Javier Rodríguez.

"Javito has been doing a fundamental job in overseeing and controlling municipal management, but, above all, proposing solutions that respond to what the neighbors demand: better public services, job opportunities, and serious management of the economic problem of the City Council," he concluded, expressing his conviction that the citizens "will largely support the solid alternative" represented by the Socialist Party.
