The Secretary General of Foro Asturias and deputy of the Mixed Group in the General Board of the Principality of Asturias (JGPA), Adrián Pumares, spoke this Friday about the change at the head of the Ministry of Social Rights and Welfare, after the resignation of Marta del Arco for health reasons and her replacement by the until now manager of the ERA, Nerea Monroy.
After conveying to the former counselor "the best personally and a speedy recovery," Pumares insisted that "Marta del Arco should never have been a counselor."
The leader of Foro lamented that "del Arco leaves the Ministry dismantled and in a chaotic situation," and warned that "Nerea Monroy's management at the head of the ERA, with 3,600 requests unattended, does not allow for confidence that she will be able to reverse the chaos of the Ministry of Social Rights and Welfare."
In the same vein, the parliamentarian recalled that "Monroy has been unable to tackle the waiting list in public residences, not creating any places."
Pumares also pointed directly at the president of the Principality, Adrián Barbón, whom he considers "the main responsible for a management marked by paralysis, improvisation, and unresolved problems," and reproached him for "knowingly lying when he says that this year the waiting list for dependency will be reduced to 180 days."
According to the deputy of Foro, the work carried out at the head of the Ministry has been "a disaster without mitigation," emphasizing that "Marta del Arco leaves having multiplied by six the time one has to wait to receive dependency assistance and leaving a shameful situation in the care of the tutored minors."
