The spokesperson and general secretary of CHA, Verónica Villagrasa, reiterated this Friday that the modifications planned in the new system of regional financing "are still insufficient" for Aragón and do not offer an adequate solution to the particularities of the community.
"Aragón needs financing that truly takes into account the higher cost for public services due to depopulation, dispersion, aging, and orography, and this proposal does not solve that problem," Villagrasa pointed out in a press release.
The Aragonese leader also questioned the actions of the Popular Party, which, in her view, "once again demonstrates that it has no common criteria or clear strategy for Aragón," following the absence of Isabel Díaz Ayuso at the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy. "It cannot be that the defense of Aragón depends on the decisions made by Ayuso in Madrid," she considered.
CHA has emphasized that "neither the PSOE nor the PP have been able to guarantee, so far, an adequate financing system for Aragón" and has reproached both parties for their lack of progress in this matter.
"We have been seeing for too long how both sides pass the responsibility while Aragón continues to be underfunded. Neither the PSOE nor the PP have managed to resolve a fundamental issue for Aragón, and the reality is that we still do not have financing that responds to our characteristics and needs," Villagrasa pointed out.
The general secretary of CHA has also demanded "that the tools recognized by the Statute of Autonomy of Aragón be put into action once and for all to defend our interests" and lamented the lack of development of these instruments.
"Neither the PP nor the PSOE have wanted to fully develop instruments such as the economic-financial bilateral agreement nor have they made the effective recognition of our Aragonese foral condition a reality."
"Aragón has the right to use all the tools contemplated in its Statute to achieve fair and sufficient financing. From CHA, we will continue to defend that Aragón has the capacity to decide on its resources and a financing system in line with our territorial reality," Villagrasa concluded.
