The president of Ceuta, Juan Vivas, held a meeting this Friday with the president of Telefónica España, Borja Ochoa, who traveled to the autonomous city to personally convey his support to the people of Ceuta "in these especially difficult times" and reiterate "the permanent commitment" of the company to its inhabitants.
The meeting took place at the Assembly Palace, where both highlighted the "solid link" of Telefónica with Ceuta and emphasized the key role that telecommunications and connectivity play in the economic and social progress of the city, in its competitiveness, and in the improvement of the quality of life of its citizens.
Ochoa's presence in Ceuta also represents a gesture of support from one of the large Spanish companies towards the city, as well as the intention to continue promoting high-level technological infrastructures.
"We have been betting on Ceuta for decades and we have come to reinforce that commitment. The city today has first-level connectivity, with fiber and 5G coverage, and we will continue working to ensure that it remains so and for Telefónica to offer the best access for its citizens to digital technologies," Ochoa stated.
The Ceuta president acknowledged Telefónica's commitment to the city and the gesture of the company's leadership in traveling to the North African locality.
"I want to thank Telefónica for its involvement, commitment, and bet on Ceuta, especially at such an exceptional moment as the current one. We are talking about one of the large Spanish companies, whose presence and collaboration have placed our city at the forefront in such a strategic area as communications and connectivity," Vivas expressed.
"Its contribution has been fundamental in improving the quality of life of the people of Ceuta and boosting our economic and technological development," he added.
