The spokesperson for Health of the PP in Les Corts, Nieves Martínez, has demanded that the Government of Spain "stop turning its back" on the Comunitat Valenciana and "immediately settle the debt of more than 1.039 billion euros that it maintains" with the Generalitat for the healthcare provided to patients from other autonomous communities and citizens from other countries.
In a press release, Martínez has described as "unacceptable" that the Executive of Pedro Sánchez "continues to fail to meet its obligations" while the Consell makes a "historic effort" to strengthen public health in Valencia. She insisted that this debt "equates to 11.33 percent of the entire budget of the Conselleria of Health, an amount that would allow for further improvements in infrastructure, technology, resources, and healthcare for all Valencians."
The 'popular' leader emphasized that "since 2023 the Consell has demonstrated with actions its commitment to public health, increasing healthcare investment each year to offer better care to citizens." However, she pointed out that "this effort clashes with the absolute indifference of the Government of Spain, which continues to withhold resources that belong to the Valencians."
Martínez detailed that the central Executive has not paid 23.1 million euros linked to the Primary Care assistance provided to patients from other regions between 2012 and 2013, as well as 887.4 million euros for specialized hospital care provided from July 2012 to the present.
To these amounts, she indicated, 30.9 million euros from the Healthcare Cohesion Fund corresponding to settlements from the fiscal years between 2013 and 2025 are added, in addition to another 98.3 million euros associated with the healthcare provided in the Comunitat Valenciana to people from other countries.
The 'popular' spokesperson stressed that "the Comunitat Valenciana is a supportive land that cares for all people who need healthcare, regardless of where they come from, and it will continue to do so." In her opinion, "what is not acceptable is that this solidarity is paid for solely by the Valencians because the Government fails to comply with the regulations and refuses to compensate the cost of that care."
