The first vice president and Andalusian counselor of the Presidency, Health, and Emergencies of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz (PP-A), has lashed out this Thursday against the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, considering that he intends to "confuse the citizens" and "even discuss" a "report" from the Civil Guard regarding the railway accident in Adamuz (Córdoba) that occurred last January.
In statements to the media during a visit to the works of the Pascual Hospital in Málaga, Sanz expressed this after the Civil Guard sent the Technical Inspection Report of the Adamuz accident to the judicial authority, in which 46 people died and more than 120 were injured on January 18.
The document precisely details the existence of a "complete transverse fracture" in the right rail of track 1, located at the weld that joined two sections of rail manufactured in different periods, at kilometer point (PK) 318+681 of the high-speed line Madrid-Sevilla.
After the content of the report became known, the Minister of Transport published a message on social media in which he described as a "hoax" that a new report from the Civil Guard had been prepared, and emphasized that it is only an ocular inspection report that does not incorporate additional conclusions.
"Hoax. There is no report. Just an ocular inspection report, nine months later, that adds nothing new or establishes any conclusion. That is what the expert reports are for, which have still not been carried out. And the rails, which still have not gone to the laboratory," Óscar Puente pointed out.
The first vice president of the Junta referred to that comment from the minister to lament that the first anniversary of the accident is approaching and "the Government of the Nation has still not explained the truth of what happened."
"Now we just saw Minister Puente wanting to confuse the citizens again, and even discuss this report, which is from the Civil Guard," Sanz emphasized, before adding that "it is hard to believe that even the reports from the Civil Guard are being discussed by the Government itself."
The counselor of the Presidency defended that it would have been "fundamental to provide an explanation in a timely manner," something that, in his opinion, "has not yet occurred," and, "above all, a guarantee that it will not happen again," a point that "the Government has not been able to achieve," he emphasized.
Sanz has accused the central Executive of "having been lying, hiding the truth for too long, and now denying the reality that the Guardia Civil itself highlights in a report."
In the face of that attitude, the first vice president of the Junta has insisted that Spanish citizens deserve "the truth, and a clear explanation and a guarantee that situations like the accident in Adamuz, with the terrible consequences we had to suffer, do not happen again."
"Therefore, we are facing a Government that hides the truth, that lies, as it is also doing in Ceuta," Antonio Sanz has condemned, who has emphasized that Pedro Sánchez's Executive "does not have nor deserves the trust of the Spaniards, because what it generates precisely is distrust, as a consequence of neither telling the truth nor explaining what happened," he has concluded.
