Ikea has renewed the composition of its management committee in Spain with the aim of facing the new challenges of the retail sector and better adjusting to the demands of today's consumer, according to the company in a statement released this Tuesday.
The main change is the launch of the Omnichannel area, which will take on the responsibility of meeting customer needs and responding to their expectations at all points of interaction with the brand.
With this reorganization, the Swedish multinational aims to establish itself as a solid business, capable of continuing to grow, while reinforcing its efficiency and competitiveness in the market.
According to the company, this structure will allow for an "improvement of costs, will allow for further price reductions, and will simplify the organization to be more agile, efficient, and entrepreneurial."
Composition of the new management committee
The management committee is made up of the top leaders of the areas considered most strategic. It includes the CEO and director of strategy, Carl Aaby, the financial director, Lorena Lourido, the commercial and marketing director, Carlos Cocheteux, the territorial director, Marina Dubakina, and the director of omnichannel, Alberto Fossati.
This body is completed by the director of human resources and sustainability, Virginia Garrido, the logistics director, Javier Martín, the director of communication and corporate affairs, Laura Galarreta, the digital strategy director, Alfonso Negrete, and the director and strategy coordinator, Noelia Lorenzo, who supports the committee in daily management.
Ikea has stated that, after a "significant expansion" in recent years, with the opening of new formats and points of contact, the strengthening of the online channel, the digitalization of processes, and greater logistical capacity, the Spanish subsidiary considers it necessary to transform itself to face a new stage.
Boost to the Omnichannel area
"Ikea has evolved very quickly in recent years," Aaby has stated, who emphasized that the company wants to advance at the pace set by the market and, therefore, must adjust to "ensure its greater commitment to the customer: a low price so that decoration and well-being at home are within reach of the majority."
The changes, which arrive in the fiscal year in which the company celebrates its 30th anniversary in Spain and coincide with the start of its fiscal year 2027, have as one of their major innovations the creation of the omnichannel area, responsible for responding to customer needs and meeting their expectations at the different points of contact.
"We are on the path to creating a better Ikea: even lower prices, more accessible and sustainable, and, as we move towards a unique omnichannel retail, always with our customers at the center, we ensure financial solidity," added the top executive of the company, highlighting that "today more than ever, their vision, to create a better day-to-day for the majority, inspires them and fills them with energy."
Finally, Aaby emphasized that they want to "help Spanish households with significant price reductions, but their customers also expect them to offer personalized and frictionless experiences, whether in-store, online, or remotely, a challenge for which the new role of the Director of Omnichannelity will be key."
