The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has reminded that the independent investigation of the accident in Adamuz is still not progressing, after the expert examinations have not yet been carried out nor have the rails been taken for laboratory study. He has stated this in a message on social media, in which he refers to information pointing to a new report from the Civil Guard, but which the minister dismisses as a hoax, as it is only an act of ocular inspection that does not add new conclusions. "Hoax. There is no report. Just an act of ocular inspection, 9 months later, that adds nothing new nor establishes any conclusion. That is what the expert examinations are for, which are still not being carried out. And the rails, which still have not gone to the laboratory," he pointed out. The minister has already conveyed on several occasions the importance of studying in the laboratory the break of the rail, since since the accident occurred on January 18, different causes have been considered, but all of them based only on speculation. Judicial delays, along with the fact that the authority investigating railway accidents is completely independent, have meant that the rails have not yet gone to the laboratory and definitive conclusions about the real causes of the accident cannot yet be drawn. It was not until July 20 that the judge of the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Montoro (Córdoba), Plaza number 2, which is handling the case of the railway disaster, authorized the transfer of sections of rail from the area in question for analysis in the laboratories, which will have six months to issue a report after receiving the samples. For now, the provisional reports from the CIAF and the Civil Guard point to a prior break of the rail, whose physical origin is being investigated as a manufacturing defect or a failure in the welding.
