The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has conveyed his congratulations to the awardees of the Alimentos de España 2026 Awards, among whom are Bodegas Protos and Galletas Gullón, emphasizing that these recognitions represent "the Spain we want to project to the world." The award ceremony for the 28th edition of these awards has been held at the Teatro Real.
During his speech, Planas stressed the "global agro-food potential" of Spain, a country that produces with "quality," transforms "with knowledge," and competes "with its own personality," according to information provided by the Ministry after the gala on Tuesday. The minister highlighted the "commitment to quality, sustainability, and the development of territories" of the awardees, and also acknowledged the work of the jury, for whom "it is not easy."
Planas recalled that Spain ranks as the seventh largest agro-food exporter in the world, with exports exceeding 78 billion euros in 2025, a trade surplus of more than 18.3 billion, and nearly three million professionals linked to the agro-food chain.
During the event, the head of Agriculture presented the new campaign "España Sabe," designed to convey "the flavor of our foods and the knowledge of those who make it possible," and to reinforce Spain's position as an "international gastronomic reference" thanks to the "talent, creativity, and knowledge of its producers, cooks, and companies."
According to the Ministry, this initiative aims to strengthen the value of Spanish products, boost fish consumption, promote the use of food, and combat food waste.
