The Council of Ministers has given the green light this Tuesday to a Royal Decree that regulates the direct granting of four subsidies totaling 363.7 million euros, intended to cover collective public transport in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and the Canary Islands during the 2026 fiscal year, thus maintaining the same allocation planned for 2025.
These contributions are aimed at covering regular public transport for passengers in the metropolitan area of the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid, the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Barcelona, the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Valencia, and the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
According to what is established, the Madrid entity will have 126.9 million euros and the Barcelona entity will have 149.3 million euros. For its part, the competent authority in mobility matters in Valencia will receive 40 million euros and the Canary Executive will have 47.5 million euros.
The recipients of these aids will have a period of ten business days from the entry into force of the royal decree to register their applications and provide the required documentation. The Administration will have a maximum of 45 business days, also from the entry into force of the regulation, to communicate the granting resolution.
