A group of Israeli settlers has ended the life of a 17-year-old Palestinian teenager this Friday during a new attack against a locality in the south of the West Bank, in a context of a resurgence of violence perpetrated by settlers in recent weeks against communities in the occupied territory.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has identified the young man as Karim Sand Shalalda, who was shot in the chest by a settler in the rural area of Khirbet Hamroush, located on the outskirts of the town of Sair. In the same incident, a 70-year-old Palestinian was also injured by gunfire. According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the settlers also set a house on fire.

The version disseminated by the Israeli Army confirms that the settlers participated in an "unauthorized march" in the area and claims that several Palestinians threw stones at them. In that context, a "civil security coordinator" opened fire at the scene.

The Army itself has acknowledged the existence of "injured Palestinians," has criticized the "unauthorized strolls of the settlers," and has announced the opening of an investigation into what happened.
